Inspiring high school students to dream big and love all.
Pairing students with professionals and community-based projects can improve student academic performance, confidence, and character.
This is especially important for high school students in urban centers who may not get as much career development exposure to overcome the "I Don't Know, What I Don't Know" challenge when contemplating potential career paths.
The intent of this Memorial Lecture lecture series is to inspire students on the importance of creativity and character regardless of the career choices made.
Any high school can participate in this Memorial Lecture series. To apply click here.
The date and time have yet to be determined. If you wish to be notified click here.
Manal Kadry was a creative servant leader and educator who inspired thousands of students in Detroit to believe in themselves and shatter glass ceilings.
She was an ardent social advocate who spoke truth to power and was an ally to thousands in Detroit.
This Memorial Lecture Series is to continue her legacy and create content that her children can watch so that when they get older they can better appreciate how their mother's educational vision changed the world for the better.
She and her loving husband, Omar Salamen, left four kids behind but their impact is everlasting.
"My favorite memory of Manal Kadry was when we made this video of our seniors receiving scholarships to CCS. I was going to record the students on my phone and Manal said "NO, ill take care of it come back in an hour" When I came back, she created a full movie production set (lol). We surprised each of the 5 students with the scholarship but I think me and her cried more than the students did."- John Jonshon
Omar Aburashed is a writer, musician, performer, and attorney from Detroit, Michigan who wrote this tribute to honor Manal Kadry and Omar Salamen.
